Job description

A 12-month postdoctoral fellowship contract is available at a CNRS (Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique) laboratory in Pierre-Bénite, Lyon. We seek a talented and motivated postdoc interested in developing novel cytotoxic agents for use in the treatment of cancer. The postdoctoral fellow will assist in an exciting research project aimed at characterizing novel bioactive peptides that initiates apoptosis by acting on mitochondria.

This short term contract may be of interest to students who wish to extend their current research project (related research theme) or to those wishing to embark on a new (2 to 3 years) project with concurrent application for an extension of this short term fellowship.

Profile: Applicants should have a PhD in cell biology, biochemistry or related biological sciences. Particular consideration will be given to applicants with dual interests in cell biology and molecular evolution / bioinformatics. Applicants must have a proven publication record.

Location: The project will be developed under the supervision of Dr. Aouacheria at Lyon-Sud University Hospital in one of the research teams (head: Pr. Gilles Salles) of the Laboratory of Molecular and Cellular Biology (LBMC CNRS UMR5239) of Ecole Normale Supérieure (ENS) de Lyon.

Lyon is an exceptional beautiful city with a magnificent architecture classed by Unesco. It also has a reputation for its gastronomy and culture. Our laboratory is fully equipped with state-of-the-art equipments (UMS3444/US8) and full of friendly people.

Further enquiries and application:

Closing date for applications: March 15th 2013, starting date around April 15th 2013.

The post-doc will be hired through a fixed-term contract in accordance with the relevant French legislation. Monthly salary is 2300-2400 euros (~1900-2000 euros free of tax).

Send application letter and CV, including research interests, experience, publication list, and contact information for 2 or 3 references to Dr. Abdel Aouacheria (abdel.aouacheria@ens-lyon.fr)
